The good news is that Mikah Sharkey has some pretty amazing people in her circle and one of them is pretty darn smart about birds.
Calvin of CJ Gehlen Photography (www.cjgehlen.com) managed to identify the mystery bird as a male Gadwall! (So much for my certainty in guessing female) This is super exciting as I’ve never actually seen one of these guys before, much less photographed one, so I’m right over the moon 🙂
